About Daphne Donald
Daphne Donald is an independent learning project built on one idea: people learn life skills by practicing them, not by being lectured at. Play free.
Our mission
We build immersive games where learners practice real decisions — budgeting a month, resolving a misunderstanding, testing a claim, leading a team, recognizing their own strengths. Every game gives learners meaningful choices, honest consequences, and a chance to reflect. The goal is not to score a child's character. The goal is to give them practice so that when the real moment comes, they have been there before.
The five-world idea
Learning is not one thing, so we did not build one game. We built five connected worlds, each centered on a core life skill:
- Confidence Harbor — self-worth, with Nova
- Responsibility Ridge — accountability, with Rowan
- Empathy Commons — empathy and communication, with Mira
- Pocketwise Junction — financial literacy, with Tally
- Inquiry Lab — critical thinking, with Quinn
Decisions in one world echo into later missions in another. A budgeting choice can test accountability. A leadership conflict can require empathy. This connection is part of every game from the first demo.
How we review content
Every piece of curriculum goes through a review process before it ships:
- Curriculum owner approval. The learning objective, scenario, and debrief are reviewed by the curriculum owner before build.
- Accessibility review. Every page and game is checked against our accessibility standard before release — keyboard, focus, contrast, motion, and screen-reader testing.
- Special-educator review (planned for games). Each game will be reviewed by a special-education teacher before its release gate, with attention to neurodiversity, varied communication styles, and dignity for learners with disabilities.
Our build story
Daphne Donald is independently built. We are launching in stages — the free site and a first set of games come first, with memberships, multiplayer, and additional content arriving in later phases as they pass their own quality and safety gates. We would rather ship something real and tested than promise a catalog that does not exist yet.
